Getting to Know the Green Mountain Area

Nestled to the south of Golden, the Green Mountain community in Jeffco stands as a close-knit enclave within Lakewood, boasting a population of approximately 35,000 residents.

The neighborhood derives its name from the surrounding Green Mountain, a mesa-like hill including hiking and biking trails, emblematic of the area’s commitment to outdoor recreation. Renowned for its picturesque parks, open spaces and breathtaking views, Green Mountain fosters collaboration across its four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.

Distinguished by a shared dedication to shaping bright futures, Green Mountain schools set themselves apart by offering an array of unique postsecondary workforce readiness programs, including capstones, mini capstones, and academic pathways.

We encourage you to support and attend events at schools throughout the area.

Kristina McCombie: Green Mountain High School Class of 2004

After earning her degree at CU Boulder and her teaching license at Regis, Kristina never really left Jeffco — and she never wanted to. Now in her 14th year of teaching first grade in the same district that raised her, she pays it forward. Her advice to students? "You are capable of magical and wonderful things. Keep going." She even met her husband in German class at Green Mountain. Some roots just run deep.
