Devinny Gifted and Talented
Mission:
To transform the potential of gifted students through challenging and meaningful learning experiences so our students become creative producers and responsible problem solvers in a global world.

Devinny Elementary Gifted Center Program Goals:

  1. The development of a clear understanding of fundamental academic concepts and their application.
  2. The opportunity to interact on a regular basis with a peer group of similar learners.
  3. The development of self-efficacy and understanding.  In support of this, students are expected to master the basic skills and factual information related to the core areas of study: mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies.  This knowledge base underlies interdisciplinary unites which the students explore.

The Gifted Center Student Experience:

GT Center students have a homeroom class with like minded peers.  The homeroom class is together for core classes but individual students are flexibly grouped into other classrooms when another setting will best meet their individual needs.  Students in the GT center program
attend Music, Art, P.E., and lunch with mixed classes of their grade level peers.  Fifth grade students may participate in Band and Orchestra which is held twice a week for a 40 minute period. Devinny GT Center students participate in all other grade level activities including field trips and in-school programs.
